- January 14, 2011 December's permits just under $1 million by Steve Dills Sylvan Lake News
- Just under $1 million in new construction was permitted in December as the year wound down. That total included permits for three new single family homes, two in Ryders Ridge and the other on 35th Street in the cottage area. Values ranged from $190,860 to $224,810, according to figures released by the town last Wednesday. Other permits - all in the residential category - were issued for one residential addition on Lakeshore Drive in the cottage area, one detached garage, three basement developments and one deck. Two demolition permits were issued for buildings on the property planned for development by Rexall Drugs at the corner of 47th Ave. and 50th St. The year finished with permits issued for 91 single family homes and one duplex. In 2009, permits were issued for 74 single family homes.
