- 12A/B: Michael Dawe posts on Facebook July 9, 2017: Story on the cyclone (mini-tornado) that struck Sylvan Lake on July 12, 1934. It was a hot dry summer that year, with intermitent intense thunder and hail storms and the occasional small tornado. The attached photo was taken by Syd Wardle showing some of the damage approximately at the current intersection of Lakview Drive and Lakeview Crescent (Pier View Estates) Red Deer Archives P7043
